Walkerton- Anthony “Tony” Kupferer, 78, died March 11, 2022. Born August 25, 1943 in Louisville, KY, Tony was the son of the late Anthony and Jane (Boggs) Kupferer. On July 24, 1971, he married the love of his life, Paula Shapiro, who he met in college at IU Bloomington. She survives him. Also left to cherish his memory are: his sister, Jean Kupferer; two brothers, Thomas (Sylvia) and John (Donna) Kupferer; and nieces and nephews, Russell, Johnathan, Elgin, Tyler and Alysha. He taught social studies at John Glenn High School in Walkerton. He also taught GED classes at Plymouth High School. Prior to his retirement in 2008 he worked for the State of Indiana Workforce Development assisting people finding employment and getting benefits. He was passionate about education. His focus was supporting people and encouraging them to realize their potential and achieve the goals. He related well to teenagers and adults alike and conveyed care, concern discipline and encouragement to all his students. He was very proud of his students as they met their academic and social goals. Many kept in contact with him after they graduated and he enjoyed learning how they progressed in their lives. Tony enjoyed and was very knowledgeable about all types of music. He liked domestic and international traveling; and appreciated learning about people and different cultures. He also enjoyed live performances, especially musicals on Broadway. He was always eager to share his knowledge. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, with Rabbi Karen Companez officiating.
