Barbara Ann Butler

Barbara Ann Butler was born September 6, 1946, in Memphis Tennessee to Ernest and Ann Mangum. She was the middle child of three daughters.As an adult, Barbara worked as a caregiver at The Logan Center for adults with special needs. She received great joy taking her clients on outings to participate in activities such as picnics, bowling, local fairs, carnivals, swimming, and cooking lessons.Her greatest joy was her love for Jehovah and serving in her ministry.She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as eating, taking pictures of herself, comedies, traveling, music and dancing. Barbara and her older sister called each other "Dorothy", which was a special endearing nickname they chose for each other as young children.Barbara was preceded in death by her parents;, first husband Jerry Butler; infant daughter, Asheka;, and granddaughter, LaShonda Butler. She is survived by her husband, Sylvester Griffin; sister,, Earnestine Lester of South Bend, IN; sister Linda Kelley of Fort Worth, TX; children: Yolanda Butler, Deidre Butler, Jerry Butler, Maraka Yazid, and Olu (Venus)  Butler, all of South Bend, IN. Barbara was blessed with seventeen (17) grandchildren and thirty-six (36) great grandchildren.The family would like to express a special thanks to her daughters Yolanda, Deidre and daughter-in-law Venus as well as the Hospice Center for their loving care of Barbara during her illness.
