Barbara Anne (Fromm) Cohen

Barbara Anne Fromm Cohen, 83, passed away on Sunday, February 25, at Ralston Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care in Arvada, CO. She was born on May 24, 1940, in Fargo, North Dakota. Barbara’s husband, Niessen (Mickey) Cohen; her parents, Dorothy and Al Fromm; and daughter-in-law, Mishelle Cohen, all preceded her in death.

On March 25, 1962, Barbara married Mickey Cohen in South Bend, IN. They are survived by their two children, Mimi (Doug) Dell of Arvada, CO and Cary Cohen of South Bend, IN; and their three grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Dell and Kayla Cohen. In addition, Barbara is survived by her brother, Gary (Nana) Fromm; nephews, Jason (Nicole) Fromm and Adam (Kathleen) Fromm; great-nieces, Sophia, Nora, and Amelia Fromm; and great-nephew, Harrison Fromm.

Barbara worked in the early 1960’s in her father’s dental office where she met Mickey. She and Mickey spent decades lovingly serving as youth advisors for B’nai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO). In 1978, they purchased Hans Rintzsch Luggage and Gifts where they enjoyed meeting new friends and sharing stories until their retirement in 2001.

In addition to Barbara’s love for baking, she and Mickey enjoyed cooking, together – the kitchen always smelling of delicious food and cherished moments of holiday gatherings and late-night talks. Barbara also had a passion and talent for creating all types of needlework including needlepointing pillows and framed art, crocheting afghans, and knitting.

Services and burial will be held at noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN.
