SOUTH BEND – Betty Jane Ferraro, 92, of South Bend passed away Monday at 3:15am in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born in Davenport, Iowa on November 21, 1925 to the late Charles and Nora (Calsen) Cope. On November 29, 1941 in the St. Joseph Church Rectory she married Louis John Ferraro, Sr. He passed away September 9, 2003. Betty was employed by the South Bend Police Dept Traffic Division as a Crossing Guard at Hill & LaSalle Sts. from 1951 until her retirement in 2000.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Dale (Jan) Ferraro of LaPorte and Louis (Pattie) Ferraro, Jr. of South Bend, Four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday with a Prayer service at 4pm at the McGann Hay Funerals / Cremations / Gatherings, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd, by Ironwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church where she was a long time member, Rev. Robert Garrow, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are asked to be directed to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1131, ?Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
