Betty M. Ruedi

February 17, 1914 — September 7, 2016

Betty Marie Ruedi, 102, passed away peacefully in her sleep September 7, 2016. She was born February 17, 1914 to the late Pearl and Mabel (Porter) Boatman.
On October 30, 1941, Betty married the love of her life, John Ruedi. He passed away in 1975. To their union they were blessed with one son, David Ruedi, who survives in Rolling Prairie, with his wife, Kay Ruedi, who was like a daughter to her. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew) Kaplan of Cincinnati, OH and David Ruedi, Jr. of San Leandro, CA; two great-grandchildren, Maya and Avery Kaplan; and one brother, Lyle (Juanita) Boatman of St. Petersburg, FL.
Betty was a wonderful mom and grandmother, and was kind to everyone she met. She was a member of the Easter Star, the Amaranth-White Shrine, Second Time Around Doll Club and was active with the Grandparent's Program. She will be dearly missed.
Some of our fondness memories was taking Betty with us on vacations. She loved to travel especially to San Francisco, California. We spent many hours in the Bay area sightseeing and visiting downtown stores. She loved to ride the cable cars as we would ride at least once every time we visited. On another one of our vacations out west, we went Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. Betty, in her eighties, hiked down to the lake (1.8 miles) took the boat tour and walked back up to the rim. That was Betty spirited and determined.
Her request was to be cremated. She will then be buried next to her husband at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
