Brenda Carol Gill, born December 23, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana, was a brightly shining star who left us peacefully at her home in New Carlisle, Indiana, on April 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. As we come to celebrate her life, we are reminded of the heartfelt and resilient spirit she embodied throughout her journey.
Brenda, an individual who stood resolutely for all she believed in. She had an innate ability to keep up with the ever-evolving world of politics, enabling her to engage in meaningful conversations that resonated deeply with her friends and family. Even as the world turned, she remained informed, always keeping the news on, ready to engage in discussions about current events.
Her vibrant personality was accompanied by an array of hobbies and interests that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Her southern cooking brought comfort to her family; whether it was her special dishes at family gatherings or her beloved cakes decorated with love, food was one of her ways to connect and show her affection. Brenda had an artful touch in sewing, finding joy especially in quilting, and spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones. She also found great satisfaction in cultivating her flower garden, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Music was another important part of Brenda's life. Many will remember her dancing and singing to her favorite tunes, putting smiles on the faces of those fortunate enough to witness her zest for life.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, alongside her devoted daughters, Laurie (Don) Padgett and Rebecca (Becky) Williams; sister, Dorothy Riffle; and nephew, Dustin Hopper.
Brenda has been reunited with her parents, Roy and Thelma Irene (Eubanks) Gibson; first husband and father of her children, Melburn Williams; and her beloved brother, Dale Gibson; along with her sisters, Laura Louise Hoover and Edith Marie Gibson. She is also mourned by the memory of her nephew, Donny Hopper.
In honoring Brenda's life, we recognize her indelible presence and the love she poured into everything she did. As we gather to remember her, we invite you to join us for a Memorial Gathering on April 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 3:30 PM, both held at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, located at 2313 Edison Rd, South Bend, Indiana.
Her remarkable spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us as we move forward. The legacy of love, resilience, and joy that she imparted will continually inspire those she leaves behind.
