It is with love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathy Fox, 71. As a loving grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, she will be missed greatly by those who loved her and were loved by her.
She was born to Nell and J.W. Cunningham in Savannah, Tennessee in 1949. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1968 and went on to Nursing school at Memorial School of Nursing, where she met her husband, Denny Fox. They welcomed their first child, Craig in 1970, and second child, Jeff in 1978. Cathy was most proud of her four granddaughters and doted on them often.
After a career in nursing, Cathy retired to a wonderful life devoted to her family and friends. You could most often find Cathy either curled up with a good book or chauffeuring her 4 granddaughters all over Northern Indiana. She loved her family deeply and was always there to help when needed. She always had a kind word and supportive disposition. As an avid reader, Cathy often volunteered to read to those in hospice care. She volunteered her time and calming aura to help those that were facing their hardest days.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Denny Fox; two loving sons: Craig Fox, father of her three beloved granddaughters: Isabel “Izzy”, Willow, and Ebba; and Jeff (Jackie) Fox, parents of her beloved granddaughter, Emerson “Emmy”. She is also cherished by her brother, Terry Cunningham; sister, Patty Cunningham; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Nell Cunningham; and daughter-in-law, Alison Gibbs Fox.
Her caring spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were lucky to have her as a part of their lives. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Center for Hospice Care, where she received loving support in her last days; as well as where she ministered to so many.
A celebration of life is set to occur at a later date. To offer private condolences, or share any remembrance of Cathy, please visit www.McGannHay.com.
