Christine Frazier

September 27, 1926 — September 14, 2017

Born to John and Frieda Rookstool on September 27, 1926, Christine Frazier passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017 due to complications from a stroke. Survivors include her loving daughter, Kris Ann Frazier, of Mishawaka; and her life partner of 46 years, Patricia Stickley of South Bend. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wesley (Kristin) Thompson of Peoria, AZ and Tara (Jason Goehring) Crews of Mishawaka. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Emma and Nora Thompson, Dylan Evans, Cayde Crews, Gary Becker and Rebecca Gentner, along with nephew, Larry (Brenda) Kemble of Mountain View, AR; and Pat's children, Gloria and Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Richard Rookstool, Carol Kemble and Angela Stoll; several other relatives; and her great-grandson, Spencer Allen Thompson who she said she wanted to hold.
Christine and Pat traveled across the US but especially enjoyed their 42 years at Willow Shores Campground where they made many lifelong friends. Christine's life was well lived and she always had a great sense of humor and a quick quip and a sly smirk, for anyone she met. She had the ability to fix almost anything, even if she didn't know much about the project. She would research how do something, then made that project to HER, specifications!
In the early 1950's, Christine raced cars and was known as "Wild Chris" at Osceola racetrack, where she enjoyed her "need for speed" in the Powder Puff Derbys. She was a diehard Notre Dame Women's Basketball fan and she and Pat held season tickets for over 15 years. Chris also got to see her beloved Cubbies win a World Championship and held her Cub's blanket close to her to the very end! Christine retired from Krizman's Manufacturing in 1990 and when you asked her how it felt to be retired, she would always reply, "I don't know how I ever had time to work!"
Christine's greatest accomplishment is her daughter, Kris, whom she instilled her strong sense of independence, determination and a "you can be, and do anything you want in life" attitude.
Christine's family wants to sincerely thank Grace Hospice staff: Kathy, Michelle, Kristie, Doug, Sharon, Carolyn, and Deb, who answered all of our calls; and Dr. Long and Angel with VPA. We also want to give a very heartfelt thank you and much appreciation to Annette, our spiritual advisor; and mom's CNA, Tanya, who was not only her caregiver, but also a special neighbor who put us in touch with Grace Hospice. Without her referral, we would have been lost during this difficult time.
Per Christine's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Christine's life will be held at a later date for family & friends.
