Colleen Olund, 65, passed away peacefully June 26, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was born in Charleston, Illinois on August 4, 1950 to the late Keith Biggs and Pat Biggs, who survives in Fort Wayne.
On September 6, 1987, Colleen married Gary Olund. He survives. Also left to cherish her memory are three children, Shelly (Geoff) Ringer; and grandsons, Sam and Henry, all of Hilton Head, SC, Aaron Rosenfeld (fiancé, Shanell Mailki) of Seattle, WA and Bryan Olund of South Bend; sister, Kathy (David) Pijor; and nieces Guin, Lili, and Sarah.
Colleen was a proud graduate of IU Bloomington, (class of 73). She was a compassionate leader who used her knowledge and skills to better the lives of others. Her professional career spanned over forty years in service to others, most recently being the Executive Director of the Mishawaka Housing Authority for 22+ years until retirement earlier this year. She was an active volunteer with the Women's Task Force and Gyna Girls, and former Chairwoman of the Secret Sister's Society luncheon and style show to benefit local cancer services for women. Above everything, though, she loved her family. She delighted in being a mom and had nearly 30 wonderful years traveling with her husband, Gary. She was full of life and love and will be missed dearly by family and many very special friends.
The family would like to thank, especially the late Dr. Michael Rodriquez, along with Dr. Michael Method, the remarkable nurses and staff at Michiana Hematology and Oncology, for the wonderful and compassionate care they showed to Colleen.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11-1PM, followed by a brief service at 1PM, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR23, enter off Cherry Rd.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to RiverBend Cancer Services, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 in honor of Colleen.
