C. Sue Dylewski

March 21, 1937 — May 5, 2023

Granger

Sue Dylewski, 86, a longtime resident and former Harris Township Trustee, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

Sue was born in South Bend, March 21, 1937 on Palm Sunday. She was the daughter of the late James Claude and Fannie Aldo (Buck) Sillings. She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Patricia Kepler and Billy Lee Sillings; son-in-law, Charles Yoder and grandson, Geoffrey Yoder. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Georgia (Scott) Martin of Elkhart, Eugene (Amy) Dylewski, II of Granger, and Tammy Yoder of Wakarusa.

Sue served as Trustee/Assessor for Harris Township from 1979-2006. Her passion drove her to provide the best possible fire protection and safety for the residents. She also secured a grant to establish a park on Brummitt Road for a playground and family enjoyment. She loved children, big and small. In 2019, for her years of dedication, the park was renamed in her honor.

Sue most importantly dedicated her life to raising her family. As a woman of integrity, charisma and hard work, she provided the best possible life for her children without much care for herself. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. So many dance recitals, 4-H events and Scouting events wouldn’t have been the same without her loving attendance. If she could pass one thing on, it would be to have a passion to love others.

She felt blessed everyday with 14 grandchildren: Andrea, Christopher (Amanda) Martin, Ashley Williams, Cody Martin, Eugene (Molly) Dylewski III, Amanda (Caleb) Mast, Joshua, Zachary (Elleigh), Jacob Dylewski, Emmy (Adam) Diltz , Candice, Katherine and Clara Yoder; and 18 great-grandchildren; Taylor, Chassidy Smith, Brooklyn, Gavyn Fillion, Zane Martin, Genesis, Eugene IV, James, Andreana, Reagan, Theodore Dylewski, Morgen, Cameron, Olivia, Abigail Mast, Lincoln Diltz, Matthew Cowsert and Cole New.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10 from 4 – 6 p.m., with the service following at 6 p.m., at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Private burial will take place at the Harris Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a “child loving” charity of your choice.
