Deborah “Mama Red” Lyn Countryman

d. October 31, 2019

SOUTH BEND-Deborah "Mama Red" Lyn Countryman, 63, passed away peacefully October 31, 2019.Deb "Red" Countryman was born Deborah Lyn Spencer on March 16th 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri to Mrs. Dorothy Spencer, with 4 brothers, Larry, Pat, Robert, and late Dennis. Though she had 3 children of her own, Brandy, Amber and Jami, Red was a mother or friend to anyone that needed it. She loved video games, scary movies, and coloring books. She loved motorcycles and Willie Nelson. She loved animals of all kinds, at times nursing sick wildlife back to health, or feeding and caring for animals other people would consider pests. She overcame injury, loss, and tragedy that no person should ever have to endure, but she always retained a spark of hope. Though Red is no longer with us, the memory of her will live on through her children, both her real kids, and the many people who called her "Mama Red".A celebration of life will be held at the First Unitarian Church, 801 E Washington St. on Saturday, November 16th from 2-5 PM. Feel free to dress in your best hippie attire or whatever makes you comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to McGann Hay Funeral Home to help cover expenses.
