Diane (Patterson) Corbett

Diane Patterson Corbett passed away May 14,2024 at the age of 91.  She was born on August 19, 1932 in Monmouth County, NJ.  Diane was the daughter, of the late Muriel and Clark Twelvetrees and the sister, of Patrick. Her paternal grandfather was the well-known illustrator, Charles Twelvetrees.

Diane was also preceded by her husband, of 68 years, William J Corbett III on March 23, 2024.

She is survived by her children: Mary Corbett, Catherine (Daniel) Freund, Susan (John) Brennan, William (Evonne) IV; and grandchildren: Patrick and Julia Laing, Lillian, Emma, and Catherine Freund, Margaret, Mary, Catherine and Alice Brennan, and Marielle Corbett.

Diane spent much of her life associated with the United States Navy. Her adoptive father, Guy Patterson, was a career Naval officer and her husband, Bill was a retired Naval pilot. This shaped much of Diane’s love of travel and history and contributed to the hospitality that was Diane’s trademark. She shared her artistic talents with others in the classroom, at museums, and with friends. Her creativity was also evident in her handiwork and knitting projects. Diane was not only interesting but interested in everyone she interacted with. Her California childhood and time spent raising her children there was always shining through in her sunny outlook. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, June 8,2024 at St. Pius X Catholic Church,
52553 North Fir Road Granger, IN at 10:00 am EST. with visitation beginning an hour prior.

Internment will take place at Calvary Cemetery (Evanston, IL) for both Bill and Diane later in the day.
