Dick Priebe, Sr., 79, passed away suddenly on the morning of July 16, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska, after enjoying his grandson's wedding with family and friends.
Dick was born April 28, 1938 in South Bend, IN to the late Albert and Velma (Davis) Priebe. He was preceded in death by his son, Dick Earl Priebe, Jr.
Dick is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Ann Urquhart, whom he married on October 26, 1956. They had more than 60 wonderful years together. They modeled Christian commitment to marriage and selfless love for all who knew them. His four living children and their families treasure his memory. Cherryl (Lester) Lowery of Montrose, MI; Vicki (Scott) Nichols of West Chicago, IL; Greg (Kelly) Priebe of Beaver Dam, VA; and Sara (Arin) Johnson of Niles, MI. His grandchildren are Amanda (Chris) Townsend, Amy Geary, Darcy (Becky) Geary, Sara Beth Shefsky, Brooke Nichols, Isaiah (Faith) Nichols, Nathanael (Shayna) Nupanga, Jessica Priebe, Steven Priebe, Rebecca Short, Curtis Short, Ian Johnson, Allie Johnson, Lukas Basso, and great-grandchildren, Alexis Stall, Maria Stall, Carly Stall, Lyddy Shefsky, Summer Geary, Madison Townsend, and Baby Nupanga.
Dick was devoted to his family, his country, and the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a proud Navy Veteran, where he served as a Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged on October 30, 1958. Dick was a long-time member of Granger Missionary Church and enjoyed being a part of the men's Bible Study Fellowship. He was a member of the Cushman Motor Scooter Club.
Dick attended Monroe Middle School, Riley High School, and finished his education in the U.S. Navy. He was a gifted woodworker who built custom cabinetry in his home and a barn on his daughter's farm. Dick worked as a custom sheet metal craftsman at K&F Manufacturing in Granger for 29 years, retiring in 2008. All who knew him loved his sharp sense of humor and big heart. Dick's family and friends grieve his loss, cherish his memory, and rest in God's promise of resurrection.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20th, from 4-7 p.m. at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Rd., Granger, IN. The funeral follows at 7:00 p.m., also at Granger Missionary Church. Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
