Donald Joseph DeShano, 72, passed away peacefully in his home early Monday morning.Don was born in Flint, MI on May 23, 1944 to the late Louis and Pauline (Breaugh) DeShano. On October 7, 1972, he married the love of his life, the former Charlotte Androsky. She survives along with their three children: Kimberly (Frank) Annello of Frisco, TX and their children Matthew, Sophia, Nicolas and Leo; Jill (Christopher) Motal of Austin, TX and their children: Greta and Sydney; and Michael (Katie) DeShano of Carmel, IN and their children: Lucas, Maggie and William; brother, John DeShano; and sisters, Lois Lawrence, Mary Pollock and Paula Androsky; and 21 nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Robert DeShano; sister, Joyce DeShano; and brother-in-law, Joseph Androsky.
Don was a graduate of the University of Michigan and was a huge football fan… "GO BLUE!" Don was a Real Estate Broker for 17 years and still worked part time with Cressy & Everett. He was past president of the Elkhart County Board of Realtors and was a 2009 Realtor of the Year award winner. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and served as a lector at St. Pius X Parish. He served honorably in the United States Air Force.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the McGann Hay Funerals / Cremations / Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. and from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Fir Rd. & SR23, Granger. A parish vigil service will be held Thursday at 5:15 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Military Honors will follow the mass.
