Donald R. Leffel

Donald R. Leffel, 85, passed away peacefully September 16, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1932 to the late Rodney A. and Ann (Smith) Leffel, in Logansport, IN. His twin sister, Martha Simmons, also preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews: Curtis (Linda Mashak) Simmons of St. Joseph, Michigan, James "Doug" Simmons of Niles, Cathy Young of Niles, Denise Simmons of Niles and Donald Simmons of South Bend; great niece and nephew: Samantha (Mario) Simmons-Smith of Traverse City, Michigan and Caleb Young of Niles; and four great nieces and nephews.
Donald proudly served in the US Marine Corp., and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a member of the VFW, Post #360 in Mishawaka, and the American Legion, Post #303 in South Bend.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., with Father Kevin Bauman officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care.
