Donna Jean Hertz, passed away peacefully at her home on March 27, 2023. She was 85. Donna was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on May 18, 1937 to the late Oscar and Maxine (Smith) Bruegel.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George; their children, Damon (Patricia) Hertz, Rhonda (David) Best and Amy (John) Helak; grandchildren: Zachary (Leah) Best, Samantha Best, Elisabeth Hertz-Good, Nicholas and Hannah Helak; great-grandson, Jackson Best; niece, Renee JoHanson; nephew, Bernard LeVeque; step-grandchildren, Tony, Marsha, Dave and Charmaine; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Robert LeVeque.
She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1955 and married George, on October 10, 1959 at St. Anthony’s where they have been members since 1961.
Donna enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and spending winters in Florida with George. She loved spending time with family and friends, watching movies, music, and a good cup of coffee.She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will forever be cherished.
Visitation for Donna will take place on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2321 E. Edison Rd. South Bend, from 4-7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 3, 2023 at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, at 11 a.m.
Entombment will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery, also in South Bend.
