Dorothy Ellen (Madey) Opferman

Dorothy Ellen Opferman, 96, passed away on April 22, 2024. She was born to the late Stanley and Agnes (Smith) Madey on October 12, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Joseph Peter Opferman on October 12, 1947. He precedes her in death. Also preceding Dorothy in death are siblings, Robert Madey, Mary Hoge, Nancy Siple and Stanley Madey.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Joseph (Ardith) Opferman, Beverly (Paul, deceased) Burak and Carolyn (Steve) Barrett; grandchildren, Joseph T. (Molly) Opferman, Sarah (Tom) Quish and Patrick (Maribeth) Barrett; great-grandchildren, Joseph W. Opferman, Andrew Opferman, Emmett Quish and Liam Quish; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy belonged to the Alter and Rosary Society, Canasta Club, was Catholic Women of the Year, and was co-owner of two women’s apparel shops.

Dorothy was also a long time resident of Ft. Myers, Florida where she devoted her time to sewing, enhancing the lives of others.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 18, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Parish, 4801 Main Street, in Downers Grove, IL 60656, at 11 a.m.
