Dustin Richard Gerbeth, 6 weeks 5 days, of Granger, IN, was called home to heaven on Friday, March 12 while at home in the arms of his parents. He was a brave fighter for all 47 days of his life. Dustin passed away from congenital heart disease.
Dustin was born January 24, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. He was the son of Zachary Richard Gerbeth and Leah Marie Richman Gerbeth. Dustin was born with a known heart condition and was a patient at Riley Hospital for Children for all but two days of his life. The name Dustin means “brave fighter”, and he was. He did everything he could to stay on this earth with his parents. Dustin enjoyed endless snuggles and kisses from mom and dad, his pacifier and his dog Nellie.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Zach and Leah Gerbeth of Granger, IN; grandparents, Rick and Stephanie Gerbeth of Mishawaka, IN and Bob and Debbie Richman of Mishawaka, IN; great-grandparents, Dick and Pat Gerbeth of Niles, MI, Patti Koellner of South Bend, IN, Doris Richman of Wolcottville, IN, and Ted Emenhiser of Hoagland, IN; aunts and uncles, Melissa (Kaleb) VanOrt and Kristyn Gerbeth, both of Granger, IN, Jenna Richman of Indianapolis, IN, Brian Richman of Minneapolis, MN, and Andrew Richman of Mishawaka, IN; and cousins, Emily, Molly and Michael VanOrt.
A celebration of Dustin’s life will take place Friday, March 19 at 12:00 pm at Granger Community Church, 630 E. University Drive Granger, IN 46530. A visitation prior to the service will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the same location. Social distancing will be according to the CDC guidelines and masks are required.
