It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edie Sutton. She was welcomed into her Savior’s arms Friday, July 14, 2023.
Born August 16,1953 to the late Elmer and Hilda Luebcke of Crown Point, Edie was the third of five children; Bill (Barb), Phil (Jackie), Dean (Sandy), and Diane (Ric).
Her greatest joy was her family. Edie married Phil on September 4,1982 and welcomed four children (in five years); Jess (Nate), Emily (Matt), Kacie (Josh), and Josh (Kat). Edie created a home in which laughter was heard (sometimes at her own expense) and unconditional love was practiced. She delighted in becoming Grandma (GaGa) to Scout, Jack, Max, Ben, Jade, Lane, and Blake.
As a graduate of Purdue University, Edie was a proud Boilermaker. Whether football or basketball, she made sure to always enthusiastically cheer on her team, fearing sitting down would adversely effect the game.
Employed as an Extension Educator for over 25 years, Edie made impacts on the community through her educational programs. She was honored as a program creator, invited into a national leadership training program, a contributor on the local news, amongst other accolades.
Outside of work, Edie was a member of Granger Missionary Church where she served in various roles. Using her spiritual gifts of hospitality, service, and administration, Edie welcomed new congregants, nurtured small groups, and lead the church board for multiple years. She was proud to have introduced the program Rooted into the church, helping deepen ones personal relationship with Christ.
It is hard to truly capture all of what Edie was in black and white. She was a wife, mother, friend, sister, and mentor. Edie welcomed anyone in with open arms. She was your cheerleader and confidant. She celebrated highs and comforted lows.
Above all else, Edie was a servant and willingly gave her time and talents to those in need. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, crediting her faith as her source of strength.

Visitation will take place at Granger Missionary Church Friday, July 21 from 3-7pm and Saturday, July 22 from 9-11am with a service immediately following.
At times we would laugh at Edie because of her actions and words, to which she would good-naturedly reply, "You'll miss me when I'm gone." So true, Mom, so true. We love you.
