Ellen Francis Sonneborn

Ellen Francis Sonneborn, 80, passed away on January 22, 2023.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

Ellen was born April 11th, 1942 to Ralph and Beth Lambeth in Chicago, IL. She spent her childhood with her sister helping at their family’s motel in Missouri and caring for the horses which nurtured a deep love for animals. She also attended the University of Illinois and worked as a secretary and dental assistant. Ellen enjoyed retirement with family, friends, travel and helping the Humane Society.

Ellen was predeceased by her first husband, Wayne Francis.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Charles Sonneborn; sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Paul DiBono; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and MaLynda Francis; niece Ellen Weston; granddaughter Maura Francis; and extended family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 from 5-7 pm at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Funeral services will be private. Please send memorial contributions to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, IN.
