Emma Jane Kelly

Emma Jane Kelly, 85, passed away peacefully at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Southfield Village. She was born November 9, 1931 to the late William and Mabel (Yeakey) Schmidt.
On May 19, 1951, Emma married Jack Kelly.He preceded her in death in 1994. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Linda Rudlaff, who died in 2005; and brothers, William and Donald Schmidt.Left to cherish her memory are three children, Michael Kelly (Rebecca) of Troy, MI, Debra Kelly (Patrick Clarkson) of Buchanan, MI, and Patrick Kelly (Kimberly) of South Bend. Also remaining are seven grandchildren, Amy Wright, Adam Rudlaff, Kelly Mauer, Brandon Kelly, Carolyn DeVliegher, Mitchell Kelly and Mark Kelly as well as seven great-grandchildren, Sam and Alex Hardesty, Chase and Kinsey DeVliegher, and Phoebe, Avery and Anna Rudlaff.
Emma graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1949. She had a big heart and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph Hospital, Memorial Hospital and the local soup kitchens. She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips through the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well trips overseas to Europe and Australia. Emma enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and completed her last one on the Monday prior to her death.
Funeral services will be held at First English Lutheran Church on Monday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Emma's name, to First English Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
