Frances Roslind Niesen passed away peacefully on July 12, 2021. She was 101. Frances was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 3, 1920 to the late Joseph and Lena Grace (Hyatt) Beauchot.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Beth Bacsa, and Barbara Allen (Tom) Zalewski; grandchildren: Dawn, Michael (Tresa) Bacsa, Amy (Ryan) Modlin, Maggie Allen (Eric) Matney, Patrick (Laura) Allen; great grandchildren: Emma, Amanda, Owen, Caleb, and Lena Grace. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Joseph and a son, Thomas.
Fran worked in the sign shop at Sears for over 25 years where she met her two best friends, Carl Kozlowski and JoAnn Luzny. In her retirement, Fran tended to her garden and made beautiful barbie doll clothes for her granddaughters which she also sold at local fairs. An avid sports fan, Fran enjoyed watching her Chicago Cubs play and never missed a Notre Dame football game. She enjoyed her three-mile walks to Martin’s and Osco’s to pick up her weekly lottery tickets, which usually included a handful of winners. Fran often said the secret to her long and happy life was her family and friends, and two Bud Lights a night!
A Memorial service will take place on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 S.R. 23, enter at Cherry Rd., at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.
