Ian Campbell Clift

Ian Campbell Clift, יוחנן (Yochanan) was born March 10th, 1980, in Aniak Alaska to Robert Edward Clift & Carolyn Faye (Ceigler) Clift. He grew up in Aniak, graduating from Aniak Secondary School.

He attended Purdue University where he wrote for the School Newspaper, The Exponent. He met his future wife Liddia Dawn White while working at the County Library, graduating with a bachelor’s in neurobiology and a minor in English. He then received a Laboratory Science degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

He accepted a position at Mayo Clinic as medical laboratory technologist and segued that into a PhD in neuroimmunology.

He and Liddia married and have three children: Adyson Hannah, Owen Douglas, and Mara Ruth.

He accepted a professorship as the director and initiator of the Indiana University Medical Sciences Department in South Bend and wrote for medical journals until he was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Carcinoma in 2019. He continued to battle for his life, teach, and write until he succumbed to complications and passed away August 20th, 2023, at 02:30 with his wife by his side.

Ian is survived by his parents (above) of Anchorage, Alaska; his wife and Children (above) of Granger, IN; his sister, Brück Ann Clift of Palmer, AK and her children, Ezra, Elysia, Tobias, and Johannes; his brother, Daniel Howard Clift of Anchorage, AK and his daughters Anna and Aliyah. He is also survived by cousins, Zoie & Dean Clift and Julie & Rose Ceigler; as well as uncles, Steven, Paul, and Tracy Clift and Michael Ceigler; his parents-in-law, Robert & Roberta Blue of Delphi, IN; and siblings-in-law, Matt & Abby White-Gould of Boone, NC and Nicholas Braman & James Brown of Alaska. He has step uncles, Bucky & Paul Harris and Cousins Alison, Benjamin, & Neil Harris.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilda Brück & Harvey Ceigler, Marianna Clift & Robert Clift; great grandmother, Elsa Brück, his step-grandfather, Howard Harris; step-uncle, David Harris, and his cousin Chad Clift.
