James R. Fowler, 94, passed away December 18, 2017 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
He was born November 22, 1923 to the late Ivan and Dessie (Kipfer) Fowler. An infant brother, Edwin; and his beloved wife of 65 years, Peg Fowler, also preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Janet Fliger of South Bend and Gloria (Miles) Butler of Cummings, GA; four grandchildren, Alani (Jeremy) Jarrett of Deer Park, WA, Kalli Fliger of South Bend, Jason (Laura) Butler of Cummings, GA and Christopher (Aimee) Butler of Ball Ground, GA; and nine great-grandchildren, Braden and Noah Jarrett and Bryson, Blake, Piper, Wyatt, Avery, Mia and Jack Butler.
James proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1945. He enjoyed bowling and was a gifted woodworker. He was an electrician by trade and had worked for Studebaker, Wheelabrator-Frye, and Weaver Electric, before retiring in 2000. He was a man of faith and had been a member of Northway Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation two hours prior, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Military honors and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
