Janet S. Ferraro, 69, passed away peacefully in her home September 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born October 23, 1946 to Rebecca (Cohen) Kaplan and Joe Mermelstein.
On January 7, 1967, Janet married her best friend, Louis J. Ferraro, Jr. He survives her. Janet was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Janey, who was her only grandchild, and light of her life, affectionately named her "Grika." She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing pool and was the League Operator of the Bleacher's In House Pool League. She also loved flowers, all kinds and colors. She will be remembered for her cute comments, including on pool night, she would say, "It's 7:00, get a game on the table – there's weather coming!" She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM with a short prayer service at 4PM at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., South Bend, IN. The Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, Rev. Michael Belinsky, CSC, Associate Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
