Service: Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10 a.mHe was married for 60 years to Sally Heimann Brumer. Jerome was the son of Lena and Benjamin Brumer. Mr. Brumer, a graduate of Indiana University, began his teaching career in Goshen and retired in 1987 after 37 years, from the South Bend Community School Corporation. Professionally he was also affiliated with: St. Joseph Hospital, Bendix, the US Post Office, Gilberts Men’s Store, Ivy Tech, St. Joseph County Public Library and Sinai Synagogue.Jerry was an active community volunteer. He enjoyed taking classes at Forever Learning, participating in the international Roads Scholar program, and attending many cultural activities. He was an avid: sports, news, weather, and biography fan. Sally and Jerry traveled in the US and internationally. Jerry was loved and admired by many colleagues, former students, family members and friends.Jerry is survived by Sally, their daughters: Carol Brumer Gliksman and Susan Brumer; daughter in law Marcia Mahony; son in law David Hausknecht; grandchildren: Matthew and Elana and niece Deena. Jerry was pre deceased by his son, Barry; son in law Sholom Gliksman, his parents and in his in-laws Fred and Esther Heimann and his sister in law Billie Manis.Services will be held at Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10 a.m.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Sinai Synagogue, the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley or a charity of the donor’s choosing.For more information or to send condolences to the family, please log on to: www.McGannHay.com.Click here to send condolences to the family of the deceased.
