JoAnn McCahill, born on September 20, 1944, in Niles, Michigan, to the late Joseph Edward French and Annabelle (Hansen) Cool, passed away peacefully on December 3 2024, at Providence Home in Mishawaka, Indiana. JoAnn's life was marked by dedication to her family and a commitment to her career in nursing.
On July 7, 1962, JoAnn married the love of her life, John. After raising her children, JoAnn pursued her education at Ivy Tech, where she excelled in the LPN program, graduating with honors. She continued her studies, earning her RN degree, also with honors, further showcasing her commitment to healthcare. She devoted her career to serving others at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, IN.
JoAnn was passionate about traveling and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her children, John Jr. (Shelley) and Laura Kelty; her grandchildren: Ashley, Courtney (Jeffrey Armey), Rachael (Brent) Fuller, Patrick (Sarah Burke) Kelty, Joseph Kelty Jr., and Mary Kathleen Kelty; as well as her great-grandchildren, Kinsley McCahill, Weston, and Colson Armey. JoAnn also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Janine (David) Sherrard, Jerry (Terry) French, and James (Pam) Cool; along with many nieces, nephews, and in-laws who will carry her memory in their hearts.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Robert, who passed away this past March; and her siblings Kathleen Klumbis, Terry Whitaker, Linda Vite, and Brian Cool.
Visitation to honor JoAnn will be held on December 9, 2024, at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, located at 13260 State Road 23 in Granger, Indiana, entrance off of Cherry Rd., from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The family invites all who knew JoAnn to join in celebrating her remarkable life and the love she shared.
A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.
