BERRIEN SPRINGS - John Earl Devlin, 54, of Berrien Springs formerly a long time Granger resident passed away unexpectedly but after years of health problems Saturday in his residence about 8:00pm.
John was born on October 27, 1961 in Elkhart to John William Devlin, Jr. who survives of Edwardsburg and the late Dian Marie (Jones) Devlin. Also left to cherish his memory are his children and grandchildren: Christina M. (Casey) Stuber and their son Archer, age 2, of Granger, Erica J. (Brett) Sterner of Ft. Wayne, John-Michael Devlin of Niles, Kellina F. (Mark) Murphy and their son Mace, age 2, of Ames, IA, James E. Devlin of Niles; two sisters: Jeanne M. (Rev. Chet) Chaney of Columbus, OH and Laura D. Bywaters of Edwardsburg.
John loved to fish and had a big boat on Lake Michigan, his favorite place was up around Arcadia, MI. He was a great cook and worked his way through college as a Professional Chef at very fancy restaurants. He earned a Master's Degree from IUSB. Mr. Devlin was employed as the General Manager at the Wendy's on M-139 in Benton Harbor. John was a music lover listening to a variety of genres and also played piano and drums. He was an avid golfer. Most of all he loved seeing and spending time with his family and was the most excited about becoming a grandfather and looked forward to his grandsons being old enough to call him his chosen name of "Paw Paw."
Visitation will be Sunday from 11:30AM-12:30PM with a Memorial Service at 12:30PM at McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd, with his Brother in law Rev. Chet Chaney, officiating. Cremation will be cared for by McGann Hay's American Cremation Society.
