John J. Majewski

February 28, 1945 — September 1, 2016

John J. Majewski, 71, unexpectedly passed away in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on September 1, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born February 28, 1945 to the late John Walter Majewski and Stella Veronica (Pac) Majewski.
On August 14, 1965, John married his high-school sweetheart, Kathy Lauer. She survives him. Their loving union blessed them with threechildren: Christine (Mike Summers) Majewski of Mishawaka; John (Jennifer) Majewski of Union, Michigan; and Mary (Sam) Shaw of Carmel. They were further blessed by their five grandsons: J.R. and Ryan Majewski, Christopher and Matthew Summers, and Aden Shaw. He issurvived by his three sisters: Mary (Martin) Miller of Bloomington; Judy (George) Camerlengo and Janice Rhoades of San Carlos, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Although he grew up without brothers, he was blessed through marriage to have two brother's-in-law: Richard (Sydia) Lauer of Edwardsburg; and David (Debbie) Lauer of Loxahatchee, Florida.
John owned and personally serviced the John J. Majewski Insurance Agency of Farmers Insurance Group since 1978. His clients affectionately referred to him as "Big John". He and his office manager of thirty years, Jan Micinski, were committed to serving their clients. He was a hard worker with an unparalleled work ethic, who loved to provide for his family. Many of his clients have shared how John was not just an insurance agent, but he was a life coach, mentor, encourager, and supporter. He was a man who would give the shirt off his back to help a stranger in need.
Nobody could say that John was someone who lived a life of leisure, as he lived every minute to the fullest, serving others at work and at home. He was a proud alumni and member of the football team of St. Joseph's High School Class of 1964. He enjoyed coaching his son's little league team and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all their sporting and extra-curricular events. John was a life-long gardener and loved driving his John Deere tractor. Over the last decade, he enjoyed taking his boat fishing on the Great Lakes, where he felt most in communion with God.
At his request, cremation will take place. A Memorial Mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend, on September 10th at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. John could have picked no better day for a Celebration of His Life than that of a Notre Dame home football game.
