John Charles Reed

South Bend

John C. Reed, 82, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2023 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. John was born on January 30, 1941 to the late Thomas and Angela Reed.

On August 10, 1963 John married Carolyn Jaworski, she survives.

John graduated from South Bend Central in 1958 and attended IUSB before serving in the US Army.

He retired from A.M. General in materials control.

John enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved his cats, Rizzo and Buffy and spent many hours following Purdue sports – Boiler Up!

John was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His religion was very important to him.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons, Jeff (Sherrie) Reed of Bridgman, MI and Ron (Linda) Reed of Fishers, IN; three grandchildren, Brooke, Nick (Lauren) and Kyra; and five nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Michael; sister-in-law, Patricia; a nephew; and his in-laws, Chester and Clara Jaworski.

Visitation for John will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR. 23, entrance off Cherry Rd, from 5-7p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N. Fir Rd, Granger, IN.  The Mass will be live streamed at http://StPius.net

Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park where Military Honors will be conducted.

Memorial donations are asked to be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph Co.
