Karen Kay Steinbauer, 79, passed away September 22, 2023.
Born December 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Marjorie (Homan) Kompar. She was also preceded in death by her half-brother, Mike Kompar.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David Lee Steinbauer of Texas; three children, David (Lisa) Bogaert of Austin, TX, Jennifer (Chris) Saari of Fortville, IN, and Eric (Lori) Markle of Granger, IN; brother, Bob (Loyce) Kompar of Georgia; three stepchildren, Lori (Bob) Burke of TX, Dana (David) Simanton of MI, and David (Lisa) Steinbauer, Jr., of TX; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and seven grandchildren, Annabelle and Sadie Bogaert, Lindsey (Kyler) Rothhaar, Turner Saari, and Conner, Evan and Ava Markle.
Karen was a graduate of John Adams High School and Ball State University, where she obtained her associate degree. For 20-plus years, she owned and operated WestBank Engraving Systems Inc. Karen enjoyed boating, playing cards, dining outand was a lifelong ND and tennis fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 10:30, all at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mass will be live-streamed at StPius.net or YouTube.com/@StPiusGranger . Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County or to the American Diabetes Association.
