Kenneth Biggins

June 25, 1950 — October 17, 2022

Ken Biggins, 72, of Granger, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 17, 2022, fortified by the sacraments of the Holy Church and surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 25, 1950, in Plymouth, to Lewis and Kathleen (Burkus) Biggins. He grew up on a small farm northwest of Plymouth, attended St. Michael's school, where he was as an altar server, and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1968. Immediately after graduating, he volunteered to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was assigned to a combat unit and served a full tour duty in the area around Da Nang, Vietnam. It was in Vietnam that his back was injured, which plagued him for decades later in life. After Ken was honorably discharged, he returned to Plymouth, and thereafter, enrolled at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he earned a degree in accounting, and later became a CPA. In 1982, he met Linda, the love of his life, and they married the following year. He spent twenty-three years of his career at WSBT-TV, where he worked as the business manager and controller, retiring in 2005 due to health issues.
Dad was a generous and loving father and husband, who sacrificed for his family and always supported his children and their dreams. More than a father or husband, he was our best friend, source of endless laughs, and full of wisdom and guidance. He enjoyed fishing, working outside, and caring for wildlife. Dad loved Christmas and he made sure to make it special every year. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals from his time growing up on the farm, and always had a dog, whom he loved to spoil.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Linda; daughters, Holly Easterling of Houston, Kathy (Chris) Polonka of Fishers, and a son, Ken Jr., of Granger; along with his beloved grandchildren, Everett and Ellie Polonka, and Elisha and Hailey Warner; and his four-legged friend, Maggie. He is also survived by a brother, William, of Hobart; along with several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Alexander Biggins, whom Ken adopted when Alex was two and raised as his son until Alex's death in 2015.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 20 from 5:00-7:00 at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger (Enter off Cherry Rd) with a prayer service starting at 5:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 21, at 10:30 at St. Pius X, Granger, with visitation one hour before. Mass will be livestreamed at www. St.Pius.net or facebook.com/st.piusgranger.
Immediately following, Ken will be laid to rest at New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Reception will follow at Christos in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Ken's name to Hannah's House, Pet Refuge, or St. Pius X, Granger.
"I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance." 2 Tim. 4 7-8.
