Lola Belle Buzzard

January 9, 1931 — December 8, 2018

Lola Belle Buzzard, 87, passed into the arms of her Savior on December 8, 2018.
She was born in Shelby, Indiana on January 9, 1931. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma (Latta) VanClake; brothers, Raymond, James, and John VanClake; sister, Agatha Walker; and her granddaughter, Christy Apple.
Lola married the love of her life, Vernon R. Buzzard. He preceded her in death June 21, 2011. To their union, they were blessed with four daughters: Christina Apple of Amarillo, TX, Renee (James) Vargo of Granger, Allene (Kevin) Farmer of Chicago, IL and Ethel (Richard) Oppman of Edwardsburg. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Register. and 14 grandchildren: Tamara Pecot, Leroy Apple, Jr., Vernon Apple, Ryan Perry, Alex and Jill Vargo, Levi and Elijah Farmer and Kyle, Bailey, Joe, Tait, Abe and Jake Oppman.
The best way to describe Lola is to say she was the face of Jesus. Without effort, she took every situation and turned it into something good. No matter how how hard her life was at times, or how bad someone mistreated her, and she did go through some awful tragedies, she never hated anyone nor did she envy anyone else’s life. She knew this world was not her own. She knew where she would spend her eternity and she wanted her family to look at her and know what true LOVE is! She was the perfect example to her family of Christ. No one can compare to her grace. While she will be deeply missed, her family is happy she is no longer in pain. She was a longtime member of Harris Prairie Church of Christ, then Northway Church of Christ. She and her husband shared the love of animals; and rescued and rehabilitated many in their lives.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 5:00p.m. at Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten Road, South Bend, IN 46637, with Pastor Chuck Wotring officiating. Friends may call one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to Heartland Hospice, who gave such compassionate care to Lola; or to the Humane Society of the United States.
