Margaret Mary “Peggy” Swain

Margaret Mary "Peggy" Swain, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend, IN, where she had been a resident. She was born on May 18, 1927 in South Bend, IN. to Clement and Katherine Cressy. Peggy was married to Paul Swain from 1950 until his passing in 1980. They had four children, Patrick, Richard, Kevin and Eileen.
Peggy was warm hearted and lived a full life. She loved her family and friends. All who knew her were aware of her love for dogs. Besides raising a family, Peggy was also proud of her job at the University of Notre Dame where she was the Administrative Assistant to Dr. James W. Frick for over 30 years in the Public Relations Office.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Robert, Ralph, Clement, Leonard and Jack; her sister, Sally (Woods); her husband, Paul; two sons, Patrick and Richard; and a grandson, Paul.
She leaves behind her son, Kevin Swain of South Bend; and his daughters, Jennifer of LaPorte IN and Maggie of Rochester, MN; and a daughter, Eileen (Farrell); son-in-law Edward; and their two sons, Michael of Midland, MI and Brian of Huntington, IN; two daughters-in-laws, Joyce Swain (Patrick) of Granger, IN and Tricia Swain (Richard) of Tyler, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Parish, Fir Rd at SR 23 in Granger, IN, where she was a member, on Thursday Oct. 12 at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. William Schooler, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be one-hour prior, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Parish Center of the church. Graveside services and burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
