Wilmington, DE-Marilyn Hoffman Metzelaar, formerly of South Bend, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022. She was 85.Marilyn was born in South Bend, Indiana on May 28, 1936 to the late Morris Barnard and Elsie (Levy) Hoffman.Left to cherish her memory are: two sons, Larry (Kristin) Metzelaar and Mark Metzelaar; granddaughters, CarolJean and Kathryn Metzelaar; brothers, Terry (Cheri Schuster) Hoffman and Loren Hoffman; and loving nieces and nephews.Working as a nurse her entire career, Marilyn spent her life caring for others. From hospital settings to Public Health and finally as a Nurse Practitioner, she made a difference in people's lives until her retirement in 2004. Marilyn was a Renaissance woman. She loved to travel and learn, including living and working in Israel for a year with her sons. She also immersed herself in painting, jewelry making and other arts. Always the teacher, she taught her youngest brother (Terry) how to dance at a very young age; and taught her sons the value of living in, and learning, about other cultures. What we do in this life echos in eternity and Marilyn's life will be felt forever by all those she helped and loved.
