SOUTH BEND-Mark James Turnock, 72 passed away January 14, 2022, after a short illness. Born May 23, 1949 in South Bend, he was the son of the late George and Esther (Taylor) Turnock. A mother-in-law, Aurora Fabay and step-daughter, Gina Dizon, also preceded him in death. On February 22, 1971, Mark married the love of his life, Josefina Dagun. She survives him. Also left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Melissa (Paul Jr.) DeWitt of Plymouth and Melanie Clark of Michigan; one brother, David (Linda) Turnock of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, Daisy, Randy, Torrie, Paul III, Hailey, Benjamin, Jersey, Diesel, Axel and Xena; and 6 great-grandchildren: Elijah, Lincoln, Aurora, Sonny, Akira and Jade. Mark was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many. He proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1975. He was a Plumber and Pipefitter for the Local 172; and after retirement, he attended IUSB where he obtained an Accounting Degree. He was intelligent and hard-working. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and working in his yard. He also loved to make people laugh. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, from 5-7 p.m., at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 Edison Rd. South Bend. The funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one-hour prior, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
