Martha Irene Rupchock

August 4, 1915 — January 5, 2018

Martha Irene Rupchock, 102, of Granger passed away Friday January 5, at Creekside Village in Mishawaka. She was born on August 4, 1915 in Mishawaka to Arthur and Helen DeGeyter. On June 22, 1935 she married Stephen Rupchock and moved to Granger to raise her family of ten children. Her husband, Stephen, preceded her in death in January of 1985.
Martha is survived by daughters, Betty (Ben-deceased) Gadacz of South Bend, Marge (Fred) Roberts of Kokomo, IN, Cathy (Terry) Riordan of South Bend, Marty (Mark- deceased) Smith of Des Moines, IA, MaryAnne Dunlop of San Diego, CA, Judy (Milton) Cross of San Diego, CA; and sons, Pete (Debbie) Rupchock of Angola, IN, Bob (Jane) Rupchock of Niles, MI and Dan (Carolyn) Rupchock of Niles, MI; along with a sister, Alice Flaugher of Florida. She also has 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve (Carol) Rupchock; and siblings, Joe DeGeyeter, Mary VandeWalle, Clare Newhouse, Madeline Rupchock, Margaret Schalliol, Morris DeGeyter, Ray DeGeyter, and Josie Bradley.
Martha was a lifetime member of St. Pius X church. She was a great gardener and member of the Granger Garden Club. Martha was a generous person and shared her home grown vegetables with everyone. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had so much love to give. If you said "I love you" to her she would say "I love you more". She played the harmonica and would entertain many with her tunes by visiting nursing homes. She will be greatly missed by many. A special thank you to all the staff at Creekside who took care of Martha. Also thanks to her residential friends, Russ and Joe, who kept her company.
Visitation for Martha will be from 4PM to 7PM, Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 Indiana 23, Granger, IN, enter off Cherry Road. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM, Friday, January 12, 2018, at St Pius X Church in Granger. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
