Mary Angela McDaniel, 98, of South Bend, Indiana, left us peacefully on December 31, 2024. A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Mary, born May 18, 1926, devoted her early life to being a mother to her six children: Deanna Jo, Donald, Bonnie, Anita, Patricia, and Kele.
After her children were grown, she became a nurse practitioner at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, Indiana. Holy Cross House is an assisted living facility where Mary spent the remainder of her working years and made many friends with the priests, brothers, and other members of the staff. The residents, as well as staff, became her second family.
After retiring, she spent much of her time on her hobby of coloration of books depicting the Native American Community. Mary attended Little Flower Catholic Church.
Mary is survived by her son, Donald Shea; daughters Bonnie McDaniel and Kele Hammons; as well as her granddaughter, Brittany Hammons, and her grandson, Jonah Snyder. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Petill and her sister, Marilyn Keith-Berkley.
