Marylyn W. Barrett

May 26, 1931 — November 3, 2017

NILES–Marylyn Elizabeth (Wensloff) Barrett, 86, passed away peacefully in her home Friday, November 3rd at 6:35am.
She was married on February 17, 1950 in Hastings, MI to the love of her life Edward L. Barrett who survives of Niles. Also left to cherish her memory are three loving children, two sons: Steven L. (Sherry) Barrett of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Larry G. (Val) Barrett of Niles MI and her daughter Susan L. Zandarski of Berrien Springs, MI. Also surviving are eight adoring grandchildren: Steven L. (Nikki Medina) Barrett II, Joel S. (Ashley) Barrett, Micah E. Barrett, Amy E. Whitaker, Allison M. (Dylan) Lemert, Jeremy D. Zandarski, Christopher S. (Christy) Braddock and Richard A. Braddock; great-grandchildren: Steven L. Barrett, III, Grace T. Barrett, Joy D. Barrett, Peyton L. Whitaker, Gabriella S. Frison, Dustin L. Braddock, Victoria R. Braddock, Christa D. Braddock and Kalea A. Braddock. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were five brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren: April E. Zandarski and Stephanie R. Barrett.
Marylyn was not only a loving wife, mother and grandmother, but she loved spending her free time reading, traveling, flying, and sailing. She also served countless hours volunteering with various organizations such as: The Work Release Program, Meals on Wheels, Home Management Services, working at the coffee and snack bar at Niles Pawating (now Lakeland) Hospital, and the Girl and Boy Scouts. She spent five years with the Bible Study Fellowship and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and People of Praise.
There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate her life on Sat. November 11th at 11:00 am at People of Praise Community Center, 53666 N. Ironwood Rd., South Bend IN. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Cremation was entrusted to McGann Hay's American Cremation Society, South Bend.
