Michael K. Jacobs, 64, passed away unexpectedly May 20, 2018, at Memorial Hospital.
Born August 29, 1953, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Martha (Kimmel) Jacobs. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karrie Jacobs.
On July 18, 1981, Mike married the love of his life and best friend, Bonnie J. Bailey. She survives him. To their union, they were blessed with two children, Scott (Lauren Olson) Jacobs of Granger and Kristen (Kevin) Foley of New Carlisle. Also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren: Emma and Ethan Jacobs and Erin, Decker and Colton Foley; four siblings: Greg (Brenda) Jacobs, Sandy (Dick) Arndt, Cindy (Greg) Kirila and Karen (Scott) Srmek; and many nieces and nephews.
Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Mike knew that he loved his family more than anything. He was a very committed and generous husband, father and grandpa, always being there for them no matter what. A former EMT, a former volunteer Fire Fighter with Warren Twp, and a member of C.A.P. (Citizens in Alliance with Police,) he had a heart for serving others in all aspects of his life.
He was the owner and operator of Twin City Motors and later worked at the St. Joseph County Health Department, later retiring as Deputy Director of the Emergency Management Agency. He was known and loved by so many and he will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25th from 4-7 p.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.
Memorial donations may be made to Mishawaka Police Dept c/o C.A.P. Volunteer Program.
