Norvella “Norie” Farabaugh

d. February 1, 2018

Norvella "Norie" Green Farabaugh, 82, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 with loving children and husband at home. She was the wife of William Noel Farabaugh for 56 years. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Norval E. Green and Fern H. Green.
Norvella earned a baccalaureate degree in business in 1957 and a graduate degree in education in 1958 from Indiana University. After graduation, Norvella's love for children continued as both a grade school and high school teacher and then as a phenomenal mother to her five children.
Although thoroughly committed to family, Norvella spent time volunteering for the Junior League of South Bend as Treasurer and as a member of the Antiquarian Society of St. Joseph County. She continued to mentor additional children whether it be extra guests at the Thanksgiving dinner celebration or the cottage on Corey Lake where all kids were welcome.
Norvella will be remembered by her energy, daily accomplishments, and competitive spirit on the tennis court, golf greens and sailing waters. Her adventurous side made her a favorite travel companion for her family and friends. She shared her culinary, paper hanging, sewing and decorating talents with many. Most of all, Norie enjoyed the family gatherings on Corey Lake each summer, football Saturdays at Notre Dame in the fall and the sun in Naples, Florida each winter.
In addition to Bill, Norvella is survived by her five children, Julie F. Warth (Tom) of Rochester, NY, Gina F. Ward (Rodman) of Wilmington, DE, Anne F. Dimond (Drew) of Carmel, IN, Amy H. Farabaugh of Andover, MA and William N. Farabaugh (Kim) of South Bend, IN; and by 13 grandchildren, Leah and Daniel Warth; Carolyn, Julia and Robby Ward; Andrew, Matthew and Sarah Dimond; William and Margaret Elaine Farabaugh; and Beatrice, Adeline and George Farabaugh. Also surviving is a brother, Jan Calvert Green, Tucson, AZ.
After a private funeral service and burial, friends of the family are invited to a reception for Norie from 3-5:30 pm, Saturday, Feb. 3, Br. William Geenen Hall, Andre Place, Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from SeniorOne and the Center for Hospice Care. Contributions in memory of Norie may be made to: The CASIE Center, 533 N. Niles Ave., South Bend, IN 46617 (a child advocacy center).
