Patricia “Patty” Susan Coulom-Elbert, 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021. She was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on March 3, 1954, to the late Patrick and Joan (Walker) McGarry.Patty is survived by sons, Christopher and Timothy (Leslie) who gave her a beautiful granddaughter, Ali; daughter, Shannon Coulom; Siblings: Dennis (Diane) McGarry, Gregory (Barb) McGarry, Vincent (Sheila) McGarry, Diane (Lee) Bradley, Joseph (Marsha) McGarry, Mary (Dan) Mast; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that she loved very much. For most of her life, Patty lived in the Midwest and in particular, Elkhart. For a few years she and her children left Elkhart and lived on the coast of Georgia. Here began her love of country music, the ocean, weekends on the beach with her wild kids, lighthouses and searching for sand dollars. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and held fond memories of holidays at her Mom’s house with her big family. She never minded waking up to a house full of other children on the weekends and loved making breakfast for everyone. She was an amazing cook. Patty worked hard to be sure that her children had what they needed and for that, they are forever grateful. Later in life Patty was married to Bob Elbert and spent over 25 years with him. She loved her family most, but a close second was her dog, Baby. Her big smile and “I’ll handle it” attitude will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held for Patty on Friday, August 6, 2021, with visitation from 5 to 6:30 P.M. and a short service for all who would like to join and send her off with love at 6:30 P.M. at the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter at Cherry Rd).If sending flowers, please send daisies, they were Patty’s favorite.
