MISHAWAKA, IN – Paul John DeLee, 50, passed away unexpectedly at home of natural causes.
Paul was born in Rock Island, IL to John and Gwenyth (Hill) DeLee of Mishawaka, IN, who will cherish the memory of their dear son. Also cherishing the memory of their father are his daughters, the loves of his life, Rachel Kay DeLee, in college at IUPUI in Indianapolis, and Jocelyn Nicole DeLee of South Bend, and their mother, his former wife, Amy Jo DeLee. Paul was blessed with great siblings who loved him dearly: Phillip (Monique) DeLee of Mishawaka, Patricia (Kelly) McKinell of Hingham, MA, Michelle (Mark) Hamilton of Granger, IN, and Margaret Clare of Arlington, VA There are a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will sorely miss him. Paul was blessed to have a darling Yorkie Terrier, “Pebbles”; the two of them had a tender relationship that was beautiful to behold.
Paul was a 1986 graduate of St. Joseph High School in South Bend where he excelled in cross country, track, and wrestling. He went on to win a wrestling scholarship to Southwest Michigan College, earning an Associates Degree in Business. Paul was born with a keen business sense, which he honed from the time he was a young boy, finding cast-off ‘treasures’ to sell to his friends for nickels! Later, he led his industry as a retail manager, bringing every store he managed to the top in sales in his district and state, and winning several cruise-award trips as a result. Paul was an entertainer with his humor and hospitality. He hosted the annual pool, games and bar-b-q family reunion at his home for several years where he was the life of the party.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Paul at noon on Saturday, April 14th in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, with Msgr. Bill Schooler presiding. Graveside services will follow at Riverview Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved maternal grandparents, Eugene and Mildred Hill. Visitation will precede the services and begin at 11am on Saturday in the Parish Center at the church.
