Richard “Dick” Didelot, 80, of Edwardsburg, MI passed away on Monday, Oct 31, 2022 in his home, which if you knew him, was in his “man garage.”
He was born Sept 6, 1942 to the late Edward and Claire Didelot, and grew up in Chesterton, IN. Dick was a stellar athlete in every sport and was invited to try out for the Chicago White Sox.
On May 4, 1968, Dick married the love of his life, of 54 wonderful years, Mary Marnell. She survives him. They were blessed with a son, Steven Didelot of Edwardsburg and daughter, Angi Jurkovic of Granger.
Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren: Mirko Jurkovic, Claire (Reece) Treber and Samantha Jurkovic; as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Mason and Niko Treber. He also survived by four brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick graduated from Ball State and was a science teacher in Michigan city, a manager for a hospital microfilm plant as well as was a manager at US Steel.
Dick moved his family to Niles, Michigan in 1976 and after 36 years as the former owner of D & D Tire Service in Niles, he retired in 2012.
Dick also was involved as a past exalted ruler at the Elk’s Club in Niles, and an avid fisherman. He actually told his buddies exactly where to find the fins. They always called for his fishing reports because he was an honest fisherman. Dick loved to golf, bowl, feed his birds, as well as the numerous animals that would come up to the house, and watch his Notre Dame Football. Dick was a lover of all things and those who knew him knew this.
Dick held his Thursday luncheons in the winter, which was something he looked forward to- having everyone over for fish, stories and food.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Just remember Dick as the best you can because he loved all of you.
