Robert (Boghdan) Momotiuk of Mishawaka died Saturday October 28, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. He departed this world leaving the gift of pure and everlasting love. His strength and perseverance through death brought peace to him and his family.Robert had a passion for life, and taught his children to be true to themselves, live life to the fullest, face and overcome adversity, be humble and compassionate, stay tough, and push their limitations.Robert was born in Belgium, raised in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Mishawaka in 1990.
Robert served in the Armed forces and was honorably discharged in 1976. He held an Associate’s degree in technology and retired from the Notre Dame Joyce Center in 2013. He enjoyed his free time traveling with his family, working in his garden, watching Notre Dame sports, and caring for his two adopted cats. One of his greatest accomplishments during retirement was fulfilled by hiking 50 miles of the John Muir trail part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and summiting Mount Mansfield in Vermont.He is survived by his wife Janina of 38 years, his four children, Agnieszka (Agnes), David, Angelica, and Samuel, his sons-in-law Edward and Mark, his grandchild Amelia, his sibling Steven, and his two cats.His viewing will be held at McGann Hay Funeral Home in Granger, IN on Wednesday November 1 from 4pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame on Thursday November 2 at 3:30pm. Following the funeral, a reception will be held at Club Naimoli at the Joyce Center on the University of Notre Dame Campus, and all who attend the funeral are welcome to join us.
