Robert (Rock) Sieradzki passed away February 13, 2025, after leading a full happy life. He was born April 24, 1935 to the late Joseph and Elinor (Sroda) Sieradzki.
On September 13,1958 he married the love of his life, Katherine Ann Radecki, who left this life 6 years ago. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond J. (Theresa) and Leonard (Shirley); and by a sister, Rita M Sieradzki.
Surviving Robert are his two children, Jay A. Sieradzki (Kim Bevill)of Granger, Indiana and Jill A Chamberlain (Lewis) of Niles, Michigan. He also has two grandchildren, Shannon M. Kuchik (Kristina) of South Bend and Robert C Sieradzki of Chicago, Illinois; brother Richard (Mary); and two sisters Geraldine Goethals (Raymond) of Jackson, Tennessee, and Barbara (Dennis) Isaacs of University Park, Florida also survive.
Bob had a full wonderful life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; especially ice fishing, where we stayed warm with a concoction called poi poi (schnaaps and whiskey). He liked the camaraderie and talking with others as much as the actual activity. He had a way with people. He loved Budweiser, Crown Royal, and Hennessy. He spent time watching, cheering for, and swearing at the Cubs, the Packers, and Notre Dame. The movies Patton, Scent of a Woman, The Bucket List, and My Fair Lady all held a special place in his heart. He also was a fan of Blues music.
Bob served his country in the army with the 426th division working with light aircraft and helicopters. He returned and worked at Torrington Company as a precision grinder. Next moving to a 28 year career at the US Postal Service. He held the positions of carrier and later, Supervisor of mails and delivery. Bob almost always held at least two jobs in order to provide for his family and to get ahead. He loved to work hard and had great work ethic.
Even with working all the hours, Bob made time to be a wonderful father and loving husband. From sports to school events he was always there no matter how tired he was. He and Kathy also helped in the daily raising of both of their grandchildren and were an integral part of their lives. They were more than grandparents to them. He even though he hated the sport, he still attended their soccer games which he said would count as time served in purgatory.
Robert was a ferocious reader especially in his later life. From Biographies, to David Baldacci novels, to the Bible, he read daily. He also loved politics, newspapers, and was a frequent contributor to The South Bend Tribune’s Voice of the People. He always had definite thoughts and opinions and wasn’t afraid to express them. But was never as close minded to not listen to the opinions of others.
Robert and Katherine came from humble beginnings. But together they general contracted and built five beautiful homes. They were a great team in all that they did. Even without experience building he always somehow figured it out. He would ask questions or read a book and tackle projects he had never done before. The results were inspiring and incredible. The homes were truly representative of the hard work, care, and success they had achieved.
He would do anything for his family and always put them ahead of himself. Never has a man loved and been more dedicated to his wife than Robert was to Katherine. He is an example of what a husband should be. He has missed her and dreamed of being reunited with her since the day she left this earth. He has repeated this often to everyone. So please don’t shed a tear for Bob. Instead please raise a glass and toast to a man who is again together with his true love in heaven. He would say he’s the lucky one and would have wanted it that way. Forgive me Lord for my mistakes and sins. I am not worthy to enter your realm. But please allow me to pass into heaven.
