Ron Hoefle, 78, of Granger, IN, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 at home in the presence of loving family. Ron was born in Mishawaka to the late Elvin and Lorene (Barhydt) Hoefle, both from Mishawaka then Three Rivers, MI.
Ron graduated from Penn High School in 1961 where he excelled at basketball. He passed up several offers to play college ball to remain in the area and soon marry the love of his life-Judy (Russell). Ron completed a four-year tool and die apprenticeship with South Bend Tool and Die where he then worked. Later Ron owned and operated Granger Machine & Tool where he worked extensively in military and commercial aircraft parts design, fabrication and production. An aircraft exhaust system part designed and fabricated by Ron was revolutionary and he was featured in an article by USA Today. Ron wound that business down and retired in 2010. He also served as an Elkhart City Reserve Policeman for many years where he made many friends.
In his free time Ron was always busy. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his fishing trips with friends and his son Randy. Some big fish were caught with pictures to prove it. He rode Harley Davidsons, collected firearms, farmed land, and could fix most anything or come up with an ingenious solution to solve the problem. Many family and friends experienced that ingenuity and giving personality on a daily basis.
Most important to him, however, was his family. Whether general outdoor activities, swimming in the pool, riding bikes, camping, or boating on Silver Lake, Ron was always engaged with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of his life and share in his absolute goodness, kindness, and inviting personality. Ron was always there when anyone needed him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy (Russell); son, Randy Hoefle of Granger; daughter, Deborah (Vincent) Campiti of Granger; six grandchildren: Paige (Tyler) Salamon, Vince (Abby) Campiti, Cara Campiti, Emily (Michael) Tefft, Allison (Steven) Tefft, and Michael Hoefle; nine great grand-children: Sam, Bella, Paisley, Elijah, Ezra, Juda, Vinny, Miles and Nora; three sisters, Jan (Norman) McClain, Vicki (Tom) Wheat and Shelley Burgess; and many other friends and family whom he adored.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Nicholas Willard who passed away in December of 2018.
Visitation for Ron will be held on Tuesday, June 15th, from 5 -7p.m. at the McGann Hay University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd. South Bend, and Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, June 16th at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, also at Edison Rd. location.
