GRANGER-Ruth A. Morganti, 99, died on June 25, 2022, at her home at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger, IN. Ruth was born on May 8, 1923, in Everett, MA to the late Frank R. and Alma (Meuse) DuLong. On November 25, 1942, Ruth married Thomas R. Morganti Sr., who preceded her in death. Ruth was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas R. Morganti Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Patricia M. (Suite) Morganti.Ruth never totally lost her New England accent even as she and Tom Sr. relocated from the Boston area to the Midwest, to Florida, and back to the Midwest again. She was a New England Patriots fan and would often ask which channel the game was on so she could watch Tom Brady play.Ruth enjoyed knitting and crocheting and the afghans she made for her family will serve as warm reminders of her. Ruth also continued to sew and hem her clothing until the end of her life, as a needle, straight pin, and a spool of black thread were found on her kitchen table after her death. As her granddaughter Brooke observed, Ruth appeared to be a "quiet, skinny woman, but who knew she would be so resilient and strong" as Ruth survived 2 hip replacement surgeries, fractured vertebrae in her neck, and 2 bouts with COVID, all after the age of 94. Her son-in-law Sean liked to say, "She's not a woman, she's the Terminator!" Others affectionately likened her to the Energizer Bunny as she "just kept going." Many thought she would reach her 100th birthday, but Ruthie was stubborn and once she had a thought, nothing could change her mind.Ruth is survived by her daughter, Beth A. Morganti (Sean Smith) and son, Steven F. (Beth) Morganti; granddaughter, Brooke E. (Daniel) Zabloudil; and grandsons, Daniel T. (Jenny) Morganti; Riley P. Smith, and Calder T. Smith. Ruth is also survived by great-grandsons, Brady, Landon, and Cooper Zabloudil and Cameron and Andrew Morganti. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Natalie and Annie from StoryPoint Senior Living who were with Ruth from the beginning when she first moved to Granger; Dr. Helman and Dr. Atallah, who cared for Ruth over the years; Lisa and Diane formerly of The Hearth who watched over Ruth; Pat who supported Ruth spiritually; and Kristen from Traditions Hospice, who saw Ruth through her final years.Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger from 9:30-10:30am, followed by the Funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:30.Ruth will be inurned with her husband, WWII veteran Thomas R. Morganti Sr., at Arlington National Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Traditions Hospice of Mishawaka, Indiana or to any local Hospice organization. To send private condolences, please visit: http://www.mcgannhay.com/condolences.html
