Ruth Weir

Ruth "Winnie" Weir was born on November 17, 1915 in Georgetown, British Guiana to Johann and Annie (Mitchell) Hutt. She passed away on August 7, 2016 at the age of 100. Winnie married John Hill in 1943. In 1966, after his death and with BG (Guyana) gaining independence from Great Britain, she moved to the USA to live with her sister in Stamford, CT. In 1967 she married James Weir (deceased 1985). In 1996, Winnie moved to Deerfield, IL to live with her nephew and his wife, Ilse (deceased 2012), and in 2011 moved to the South Bend, IN area to live near her niece.
Winnie is survived by her nephew, Brian A. Loftus (Candace); and her niece, Andrea L. Jones (Wellington); 8 grand nieces and nephews and 14 great grand nieces and nephews. Winnie is also survived by step-grandchildren: James Skelton, Steven Skelton, and Barbara Skelton West and their families. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Eileen Loftus Holt; her niece, Sheila Loftus Clancy; and her step-daughter, Barbara Weir Skelton Gillies.
