Sandra “Sandy” C. Maichen

Sandra "Sandy" C. Maichen 81, of South Bend, IN, passed away on August 19, 2022. Sandy was born July 26,1941 in LaPorte, IN, to Mary and John Wysocki.Upon graduation from St. Joseph High School class of 1959, she went through Memorial Healthcare x-ray program receiving an Associate's Degree working for Mishawaka Medical Arts. Sandy married Charlie Maichen on May 16, 1964 at St. Adelbert's Catholic Church.They welcomed into the world three children: Tony, Melanie, (who passed away at age 26 years), and Maureen. Sandy was a very devoted mother caring and nurturing her children including their two special needs daughters. When Tony was at St. Joseph High School, Sandy was vice president of the music booster organization and president in his senior year.Sandy proved to be a shrewd business woman when she developed and opened Alexandria Marketing Company which she ran providing consumer products to stores like Walmart and Target. Sandy also enjoyed the social aspects of selling Tupperware and World Book Encyclopedias for many years.Sandy was a professed member of Immaculate Conception Fraternity located in Mishawaka, IN.  She and Charlie professed together May 18, 2013 making a life-long commitment to the Secular Franciscan Order.The family would like to acknowledge the deceased members of the Maichen's. These  include members of the Wysocki, Trossen, Reinhart,  Holvoet and Lisenmeyer families. Sandy also wanted to recognize their affiliation with the People of Praise where they were members for 35 years.On Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm there will be a visitation, wake service, and Franciscan Crown Rosary recited at 8 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
